2023

 Christmas 2023

This year we found ourselves too busy to send our traditional Christmas card -- the first time in many years that we have missed.  So we have created this site to update and share our past year with friends and family.

We started the year with some health struggles, but through excellent health care resources, and the love and support of friends and family, we persevered and finished 2023 with a positive outlook for the future.

Our year included Corvette events, travel, and three new additions to the garage!

In April we went to the Corvette race in Long Beach with friends Don and Shirley.

In May we drove our 2018 Z06 Corvette to Monterey, California for the next race at Laguna Seca.  For the first time in many years, Don and Shirley couldn't join us.  But we enjoyed visiting with the Corvette legends and the 861 mile round-trip cruise in the Corvette.

Also in May we went on our first cruise of the year to Portugal to sail the beautiful Douro River with friends Cliff and Paul and Liz.

June started with a wonderful surprise.  Back in 1997 we sold Nan's 1967 1/2 Datsun Roadster -- the car that she drove to San Diego State University.  The buyers were our great friends, Denny and Nancy Sullivan, who live in Burien, Washington.  Denny had decided to sell the car after owning it 26 years and gave us the first option to buy it -- so we did!

It was an amazing story of friendship and love -- and Nan's car, "1SASY67" has returned home.  Nan is driving the car all the time on errands in Carlsbad.

Also in June, we made a trip to Maryland to visit with some of Cary's family . . . .

. . . and celebrate the 92nd birthday of Nancy's Uncle Joe . . .

. . . and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of our book with a Beltsville Shell Reunion!

In July we went on a 3,100 mile trip with our Corvette Club to the Black Hills Corvette Classic in Spearfish, South Dakota seeing Cedar Breaks, Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, and hundreds of Corvettes.

For more than 30 years we have been wanting to visit the Wrigley mansion on Catalina Island -- "The Inn at Mount Ada", and in August we finally made the visit.

In September we flew to Montreal for our cruise on the St. Lawrence River through southeast Canada, then down the northeast USA.  Ports of call included Quebec City, Trios-Rivieres, Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport and finally ending in New York City.

In October, Canon moved to Napa to begin a new job for a new company.  She is so excited about her new adventure in her enological career path.

After waiting two years, also in October, Nan finally received delivery of her 2024 Corvette Stingray convertible.

Then, in November, we got the opportunity to buy a second 2024 Corvette -- this one is the Z06 supercar.

In December, we stayed home!

Sending wishes for health, happiness, and love today and throughout 2024.

Love, Nan and Cary
